Layering + DIY Infinity Scarf and Pencil Skirt

Rhianna's Studio OOTD DIY Pencil Skirt and Infinity Scarf

Hello Everyone!
I love mixing prints. The key to mixing prints and not looking weird or homeless is each print should have at least one color in common. That helps tie them together.

The pencil skirt is a staple in my wardrobe. I am a true skirtaholic! I am more comfortable in a skirt  than I am in pants or jeans LOL! I wear pencil skirts all year round. You can say it is sort of a uniform for me :-)  I love that a pencil skirt can be dressed up or down depending on the fabrication. A great thing about this look is that it works for almost any body type!

Here in NC we are still experiencing some warmer days so this is the perfect way to wear layers. Especially with it being cooler in the mornings and evenings. So if it warms up to 80 degrees in the afternoon, then you can remove the scarf and the sweater and have a nice  crisp white button down top with a figure flattering pencil skirt and still look stylish. Don't forget that the boots give it that perfect amount of edge that makes the outfit casual chic.  When it cools down in the evening just pop your layers back on :-)

I made the infinity scarf from a challis fabric I ordered from Fashion Fabrics Club last year and the skirt is a cotton Lycra knit that I ordered from Girl Charlee last year. If you would like to sew a pencil skirt, I have a great tutorial here on the blog for you to follow.

Love this look on you! Your confidence is speaking volumes and jumps right off the computer screen! I love it! I recently gave pattern mixing a try for the first time with black and whit stripes and loved the results! Definitely planning on doing more mixing of patterns in the future!

Your comment about looking pattern mixing and homeless is hilarious!!! I do love pattern mixing and love your tip! You can never go wrong with stripes & polka dots - my 2 favorite prints!

BTW, I am hosting a weekly link up on Thursdays and hope that you will join me.
