How To Bring The Hotel Comfort Home?

Rhianna's Studio Redoing the Bedroom
Hello Loves!
I hope you are well! A comfy bed can be a good and a bad thing!
My husband and I, not too long ago, vacationed in Charlotte,NC and stayed at the City Center Hotel in uptown Charlotte and he loved how the bed felt. For some reason that replayed in my mind for days after we returned home. Prior to this trip we took, I was thinking about redoing our bedding. Then my cousin, Atiya, asked me to make pillows for her daughter's room that she is redecorating with a Tiffany & Co. theme.  From this I was inspired to give my husband the comfort of the hotel bed and redecorate our room, well at least replace the bedding.

The first thing I did was make a list of all the things I wanted to change or thought would make the bed more comfy cozy for my hubby.
1. New Down or Down Alternative Comforter
2. Nice high thread count sheets or at least a sateen
3. A mattress pad
4. Comfy pillows (We already have down and down alternative pillows. So I only had to wash and fluff them).

Then I made a list of things needed to make the bed look good (this was more for me than the husband). ;-)
1. Different sizes of decorative pillows
2. A nice duvet cover
I did some looking around online and there were a few duvet sets that I liked but I didn't want to spend that amount of money on only a duvet cover and two pillow shams. Here are some I liked from Bed Bath & Beyond & Pottery Barn.
Last year I made a duvet cover and two pillow shams for our bed. It was nice but after a while I fell out of love with it and something went really wrong with the Down Comforter I had after taking it to the dry cleaners. So it was definitely time to replace that mess!

So let's check some things off the list.
  1. I found a Down Alternative Comforter from JCP.com for $111.01 including tax and shipping was free.
  2. I also found white dobby striped sheets at JCP in the store and they are 600 thread count sheet set which cost me $42.39 (includes tax) down from $130.
  3. I also found a pair of pillow cases for $19.20 (includes tax).
  4. The mattress pad, I found at Target. It is a down alternative pillow top mattress pad and this was the golden item that brought the comfort of the hotel bed, he loved so much, home! It was on sale with tax I paid the regular price of $54.

Ok. So I know you are wondering what I decided to do for the duvet and where did all those decorative pillows come from? Well I made them! I shared a how to instructional tutorial yesterday here for making the Euro Pillows. The same concept applies to any size pillow you wish to make! I will share how I made the duvet cover and the price of the fabrics used, how much fabric required, and the fabric types on Thursday!
The bed is so comfy some days I do not want to get out of the bed. Other days my husband's snoring drives me out of the room and into the studio at 5:00am! LOL!

Thank you for reading!
