Day 14: How Did the Challenge End?

Hello Everyone!
I hope you had a wonderful weekend and your week is going well thus far. I will be sharing with you what I did Memorial Day weekend on the next post but I wanted to first show you how I spent the 14th day of the design challenge.

I spent Sunday, the final day of  the challenge, assisting my mother with making a pants pattern. She wanted a pair of pants that she knew would fit as she desired. We also did a pencil skirt pattern, but I forgot to take pictures, however when she makes it and wears it I will post a picture.

Fitting pants is very challenging, however they are one of the easier things to sew.  Generally the crotch depth is an area of concern. You don't want your buns to show when you have a seat in your pants so making that adjustment is the most common I've come across.  It requires raising the height of the crotch at the waist but then it has to be taken in. This increases with those who have an amble bottom, like myself :-)

The good thing about making custom fit pants is that you do not have to worry about that annoying gap. Adjustment of the crotch and waist of the pants assists with eliminating this.

OK, enough tech talk. I also cut out two dresses as part of the final days of the challenge. I did not have time to sew them up. I will do that this week and post pictures once they are sewn. I will also be taking pictures in the outfits starting this week. So some outfit of the day posts are coming!
I actually wore the black and white midi striped dress that I cut and made during the second week of the challenge on Sunday before memorial day as we had a cookout. If you missed the post that showed me cutting the black and white dress you can see it here.  I did not take formal pictures but below is a sneak peek of a mirror shot I took.

Please excuse the messy studio. I am working on getting that cleaned up this week!

Thank you for reading!
