A Quicky: D.I.Y. OOTD Shifty Aquatic Dress!

Hello Dolls! This is a post to showcase a dress that I hand drafted the pattern in a matter of minutes. My sister calls it my three minute dress b/c I was on the phone with her when I drafted the pattern and made the prototype to test the fit. LOL!

The concept of the dress was inspired by Mimi G's Pencil Skirt Tutorial in that it does not have any side seams. It has a seam up the back of the dress and two seams at the shoulders. It is really simple to make! This dress actually started a prototype but it turned out so nicely I finished and rocked it as a dress :-)

I added a yellow belt I found on clearance over the summer at JCP. It was only $5.00! I love nude shoes they go with virtually anything. So I paired my dress with these Nude Pumps with Gold Accent by Guess that I got from DSW a while back.

This dress is perfect for work, just throw on a blazer! If you are going out for drinks with the girls after work just take off the blazer and you are ready for a night of fun!!!

For my fellow designer, seamstresses, fashionistas, and home sewers if you would like to make this dress. The fabric I used is a synthetic knit. It is by ITY. I got it online from Michael Levine at This fabric was very nice to work with. It didn't give me problems when cutting or sewing. I used bias tape to finish the neckline and armhole and for a little decoration I did a zigzag stitch on the hem.

What: DIY Dress fabric (here)| Guess Nude and Gold Pump (old)|Royal Blue Blazer from Belk (old)|Yellow w/gold buckle JCP (old)
